Handmade noodle bowls. Japanese rice bowls with chopsticks.
From what I understand, it's ok to slurp when you eat noodles or rice with chopsticks, but never to stand your chopsticks upright in your bowl of food. Consequently, the design of this rice bowl allows you to rest your chopsticks on the edge of the bowl without worrying about them rolling off.
I made this bowl on my pottery wheel out of porcelain clay, adding a swirl in the bottom as I finished. While the clay was soft, I incised two holes on one side of the bowl and two half-circles on the opposite site to create a resting place for your chopsticks.
The chopsticks come with this listing.
I used a beautiful robin's egg blue. Your food will look stunning against this beautiful color.
It is microwave and dishwasher safe and is signed on the bottom rim.
This bowl will hold 3-4 cups of rice and measures 4" high x 5.25" across at the rim.

Thank you for stopping by! All the pottery in my shop was made by me either on my pottery wheel or handmade. I make almost all my own glazes, and they are food safe and can be used in the oven, microwave or dishwasher unless the description says otherwise. However, as with any handmade pottery, it will retain its fresh good looks longer with handwashing and limited microwave use. I accept custom orders and will sell wholesale to galleries/shops....please contact me for information.
